"I have been working out at Prescriptions for Fitness, for eleven years. It is part of my life and I just keep it up. Several years ago I began working out regularly with Jong Hon. Jong choses exercises that will be strengthening, but also right for my ability and age. He makes sure that my body is in the correct position, so I don't strain, or injury myself. About two years ago Jong suggested I try boxing as another way to get cardio exercise. I really enjoy it and appreciate having a new routine. Jong holds a six degree black belt in karate. I love the way you guys work. You are a team through and through. I feel supported the minute I walk through the door. Anthony is a prime example. I would routinely see him when I came in to train with Derek. One day when Derek was on vacation I trained with Anthony. He wanted to understand me...he saw how hard I trained all the time with Derek...he wanted to know why I wasn't losing weight. After confessing that my diet was hardly stellar he set me straight. He focused me on what I was putting into my body and recommended an eating plan that would work for me. I was already experiencing the loss of I inches with Derek but this was the missing link that let me see immediate weight loss. The holistic personal approach of this team combined for a loss of 15 inches and 20 lbs. It allowed me to truly get my head into what I was doing with Derek.
I now feel completely in synch and that I am surrounded by a knowledgeable, involved team of experts that care about each person individually.
I couldn't find this at the big box gym...

I have been a client at Prescription for Fitness since it opened it's doors. I have therefore had the opportunity to work with many trainers. Most have been quite good. I am writing to praise Damain in particular. We have been working together for several years now. I find Damain to be particularly helpful in his explanations, his corrections, his support and his "pushing me" when I need to be pushed. Most importantly, Damian is a physical therapist and therefore very helpful dealing with my specific aches and pains. Thanks to Damian I my workouts are quite beneficial.

You have to be a lot of fun—and really, really good at your job—to make me want to get
out of bed at 5:45 on a weekday morning to work out! Britney is
both. She is a "tough love" trainer: She pushes, cajoles, teases, and
encourages, all with the goal of getting my sometimes-creaky and
cantankerous middle-aged body into fighting shape. I feel great--and I
can honestly say that whenever I start my day with a workout here, I leave with a big grin on my face and feel energized all day.

Over the past 5 years, the Prescriptions' team led by Renee, Scott, Dom and Tony have transformed me from an out-of-shape, banged up weekend warrior into a savvy, healthy 42 year old with renewed energy, and the ability to play tennis, basketball and other sports injury-free.
In particular, Renee has helped me achieve results beyond my initial expectations. She is a unique blend of yogi and pure "ass kicker." Her workouts combine high intensity core and strength training, with increased flexibility and balance. Each workout is personalized and customized and—using mainly my body weight, whether it be push-ups, pull-ups, plank and squats or one of her bands/sandbags or other toys—she challenges me to get stronger, leaner and more flexible.
Renee has also introduced me to 5 and 10k races in the area, running trails and workouts in Rockefeller Park, snowshoeing at Whippoorwill Park and yoga classes. Renee is smart, funny, patient and a total game-changer. For me, she has changed not just the way I look, but the way I live.

I love my Monday morning workouts with Renee. Each session is different She knows I need variety in my workouts to keep me challenged and motivated. Some days we're inside; some days we're out. Could be jump rope or kettle bells or timed repetitions. The hour is packed full of activity Renee knows I want every minute to count. She pushes me to places I couldn't go on my own. It's always hard work, but playful too – that's what makes the hour fly by so fast. And it's always focused on my fitness goals. I feel great – strong, lean, balanced and flexible. I'm not getting any younger but by working with Renee and the other trainers at Prescriptions, I'm getting even stronger and more fit. I love it!
